Sara Cox joins search for Mum of Year

Former Radio 1 breakfast presenter Sara Cox is to be an ambassador for next year’s Tesco Mum of the Year competition.

The 36-year old, currently covering on Radio 2’s celebrity panel show Hot Gossip, is a mum to three young children who are all under 7 years old.

Sara – who still does a weekend show on Radio 1 as well as regular daytime cover – told Tesco Magazine: “It’s so important to celebrate our mums and make a fuss of them because they really deserve it. I certainly couldn’t have got to where I am today without my own wonderful and supportive mum. There are millions of mums out there doing all these extraordinary things, struggling against the odds and facing challenges and it’s fantastic that they can be recognised through the Tesco Mum of the Year Awards.”

The Tesco Mum of the Year awards take place on March 11 2012 at the Waldorf Hotel in London. For the last couple of years, GMG’s Real Radio have helped with the search for Mum of the Year by having nominees in the Real Radio Mum of the Year category, won last year by Joyce Sheriff from Scotland.
