Absolute Radio says it saw a massive growth in download figures for its smartphone apps during December – with a big increase during the Christmas break in particular.
The group launched its new updated radio app on 19th December, resulting in 503,000 updates and new installs – a rise of 340% from November.
The ‘6th generation’ app features Mobile In-Stream adverts, so listeners get a visualised radio experience that’s more relevant to them, while advertisers gain an intimate level of access to the station’s core audience.
The figures were revealed at this morning ‘Redefining Radio’ event, held at the Houses of Parliament and organised by Absolute Radio together with the Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries Ed Vaizey.
Absolute Radio Chief Operating Officer Clive Dickens said: “The half a million new updates and installs recorded in December and over the Christmas period is an incredible achievement. These groundbreaking results are testament to our commitment to mobile and perfectly demonstrate how we are ‘Redefining Radio’ at One Golden Square.”
