Global Radio network Heart has raised just under £350,000 through it’s charity appeal in aid of ChildLine.
The week of Have a Heart activities on air finished with a special broadcast featuring Heart presenters Emma Bunton, Jason Donovan and Toby Anstis.
They were joined on Friday by celebrities including Lionel Richie, Daniel Radcliffe, Pixie Lott, Matt Cardle, Kimberley Walsh, David Hasselhoff, James Morrison and Louie Spence.
Around the UK, Heart teams got involved in appeal projects, around the ‘Be a Kid for a Kid’ theme such as school discos and school uniform days. On air auction items raised large amounts – including £7,700 for an exclusive video message from The Wanted and £4,600 to meet Westlife at their last ever live concert in Dublin.
The money raised will help ChildLine recruit, train and support 140 new volunteer counsellors.
Heart presenter Emma Bunton said: “The £348,456 will enable ChildLine to speak to thousands more children across the UK who may be in distress or in danger and need help. We’d like to say a massive thank you to all our listeners and guests for being so generous and making the Have a Heart Appeal such a success.”
