Radio executive John Myers is returning to CFM, the radio station he launched 20 years ago, to host a special four hour programme.
To help mark 20 years on-air across Cumbria, John will take-over Golden Sunday from 9am till 1pm today, Sunday April 14th.
He was the station’s first breakfast presenter and Managing Director when the station started, broadcasting from premises at Durranhill to Carlisle and Penrith. Further frequencies were added in 1995 meaning the station covered West Cumbria too.
Now the station is broadcast on four frequencies from Kingstown in Carlisle and owned by Bauer Media Group.
John Myers said: “For two decades, CFM has remained one of the best radio stations in the UK and I’m delighted to be returning for one show to celebrate their success. I just hope I remember how to do it!”
Tom Haynes, Programme Controller for CFM, said: “CFM is delighted that John is coming back to the station on Sunday to help us celebrate our twentieth birthday. I’m sure plenty of people will remember that first breakfast show when John launched the station by playing Tina Turner’s ‘The Best’. Listeners can expect to hear some old sounds, lots of memories and of course the best mix of music which CFM is renowned for.
“It’ll be a great chance to reminisce and enjoy some stories from the station’s time on air”.
