DJ Avicii joins Capital for monthly show

Music DJ and producer Avicii is joining Global Radio’s Capital FM network to host his own Saturday night mix show once a month.

Starting this Saturday night from midnight, Avicii will be in the mix for an hour every month, using part of the slot left vacant by the recent departure of Andi Durrant.

Avicii is best known for tracks such as ‘Levels’ and ‘Wake Me Up’, which sold over 267,000 copies in its first week in the UK, becoming the fastest-selling single of 2013. Last year, the Grammy Award-nominated artist made history by being the first DJ to perform a headline show at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York. He released his debut album ‘True’, earlier this month.

Avicii said: “I’m so excited to have a monthly show on Capital FM. Being able to spread the music that I love and give my UK fans an update on my everyday life on the road, exciting projects and new releases is truly amazing!”

Global’s Group Executive Director & Director of Broadcasting Richard Park said: “Avicii is a world class DJ who is loved by our audience so we’re proud to have him on board to host his own show. He’ll be playing the hottest dance tracks and some of the biggest club remixes around to help to keep our listeners in the party mood on the weekends.”

The signing follows news that Craig David will be hosting an hour-long show on Friday night, and Tim Westwood is joining Choice FM.
