Radio Festival schedule released for 2013

The full Radio Festival schedule has been released, ahead of the annual event taking place in Salford Quays in two weeks.

Top guests include Helen Boaden, Director of BBC Radio making her first public speech since taking over and Ashley Tabor from Global Radio.

Bauer Media’s Dee Ford will be giving the ‘State of the Radio Union’ address and face tweeted questions from the audience and Radio 1’s Ben Cooper will be on stage too.

Other people appearing include Simpsons and Spinal Tap star Harry Shearer, Patrick Kielty, Jeremy Vine, Microsoft’s Paul Davies and Kevin Tillinghast of Wunderman, 5 live’s Jonathan Wall and talkSPORT’s Liam Fisher, Richard Bacon, Alan Yentob, Eleanor Oldroyd, Neil Fox and Andy Roberts.

The BBC 6 Music John Peel Lecture with 7digital will feature singer, songwriter, actress and presenter Charlotte Church.

Chris Burns, Chair of the Radio Festival, said: “The Radio Festival is the most highly anticipated event in the industry calendar and the line-up of talent and star names for this year will definitely not disappoint.

“Every week nine out of ten people listen to the radio and at this year’s Radio Festival we will be looking to inspire people to see whether it’s possible to get to a perfect ten.

“However, there have also been some difficult issues for the industry to face and the Festival will not shy away from discussing them with some of the sector’s most insightful commentators.

The Radio Festival will take place from Monday 14th October to Wednesday 16th October at The Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays.
