Bauer’s regular cover presenter in the North of England, Alex Duffy, has been given the full-time breakfast slot on Hull-based Viking FM.
He takes over from Sean Goldsmith, who left the show in February for the Big City 2 (formerly Magic AM stations) breakfast show after Nick Jackson’s departure.
Alex has been covering the show on Viking since Sean left, moving from the overnight show across the Bauer Big City stations in England. He’s also been one of the main swing jocks for Metro Radio, Hallam FM, Radio Aire and Key 103 over the last couple of years.
He also has recently been doing Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings on Orion’s Free Radio network in the West Midlands, alongside weekday cover there. Orion say he’ll be finishing on Free Radio after June. David Lloyd, Content and Operations Director at Orion Media told us: “Alex is a talented, creative presenter – and we’re delighted he’s got a gig he deserves. We wish him every success but we’re sorry to lose him.”
Previous work on his CV includes network shows for Real Radio, breakfast at The Pulse in Bradford between 2008 and 2012, daytimes on Chiltern FM and overnights on Power FM.
Owen Ryan, Group Content Director, Bauer City Network told RadioToday: “The search for our new breakfast show has been extensive and it’s great to secure Alex on a permanent basis for the station. Listening to Alex on Viking over the last month, it was obvious that he was the right man for the job and we’re delighted to add him to the team. Working alongside our existing talent Steve Jordan, Debbie Mac and Pete Egerton, Alex will complete our line up and his creativity and experience will help drive the station to further success.”
