Bauer station Magic Radio has announced a new Sunday afternoon interview show to be presented by former X Factor host Kate Thornton.
The series, called ‘Magic’s Music Of My Life’ will run from this weekend until 21st June and sees celebrities in conversation with Kate and playing their favourite songs. It’ll be co-produced by Indie, Somethin’ Else.
First up is Chris Evans’ ex-wife Carol McGiffin, who’s been a presenter on Talk Radio, Liberty Radio, LBC, BBC London and the TLRC network and has recently left ITV show Loose Women. Other guests already lined up include Louis Walsh and Craig Revel Horwood.
Magic’s Content Director Tony Moorey told RadioToday: “It’s great to have Kate on board at Magic Radio. She’ll use her journalistic nous and warm style to bring out the best in our celebrity guests who’ll have the chance to choose the tracks they love from the Magic Radio playlist.”
Kate is a former editor of Smash Hits as well as having presented shows including Top of The Pops, The BRITS, X Factor and This Morning. She’s also done radio – she was part of the line-up for UK Radio Aid and in 2013 hosted a branded content show called The Boots Feel Good Forum on Real and Smooth Radio. Most recently she’s been interviewing big names for a series on BBC Radio 2 called Paper Cuts, where she walked celebs through their life via newspaper headlines about them.
Magic’s Music Of My Life will go out at 3pm on Sundays in a slot which was occupied in March and April by Claire Sweeney’s musicals show. Kate Thornton will follow 80s stars Kim Wilde (10am-1pm) and Rick Astley (1-3pm) on the station’s Sunday line-up.
