Road Safety Radio launched in Manchester

A radio station aimed at drivers across Greater manchester is on-air this week.

The RSL is on-air for a week, broadcasting on 87.7FM till October 4th at 6pm with information about issues such as drink driving, pedestrian safety, speeding and distractions on the road.

Road Safety Radio started today, operated by MediaCityUk-based On The Eighth, commissioned by DriveSafe – part of the Greater Manchester Casualty Reduction Partnership.

As well as news updates and features, the station will also broadcast case studies featuring both victims and those who have to deliver the devastating news to the families. Audio will come from the team itself, as well as Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and many Local Authorities and community groups.

Stuart Morgan, Director at On The Eighth, said “We’ve worked with the team from DriveSafe and Transport for Greater Manchester for many years and we’re really proud if this project.

It’s a great chance to showcase some longer form content beyond what can be done with traditional radio advertising.”

The station will also be available online at roadsafetyradio.com and on Twitter.
