Cameo departs 1Xtra after 10 years on-air
New changes at 1Xtra include a new future-facing RnB show with Jamz Supernova and the departure of Cameo.
Cameo has been at the station since 2004 and currently hosts the Tuesday 10pm till 1am show. This will be the new home of Jamz Supernova.
Also, Sian Anderson will be going on maternity leave this autumn, with grime DJ Logan Sama joining the station from 18 November to cover her Wednesday evening 10pm-1am show for the following three months.
Rhys Hughes, Head of Programmes for Radio 1 and 1Xtra, says: “I’m absolutely delighted that Jamz Supernova will be joining the 1Xtra specialist family with a three-hour programme dedicated to future RnB. I’m also very happy that Logan Sama is taking over the Grime reins while Sian Anderson is on maternity leave.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cameo for his fantastic contribution to 1Xtra over the last decade and wish him all the best for the future.”
Jamz Supernova says: “I’m super excited to be joining the 1Xtra specialist line-up and I can’t wait to share three hours of my musical world on Tuesday nights.”
Logan Sama says: “After all the love and support the 1Xtra listeners have shown me for my SixtyMinutes residency, I am really excited to be keeping Sian Anderson’s show warm for her for the next couple of months. I will be bringing the full spectrum of this wonderful music called UK Grime to the station from foundation legends, bright young artists and innovative current producers.”
