Global will rebrand Juice FM and launch Capital FM Liverpool on January 18th with new local breakfast, drive, weekend and evening shows.
Adam Weighell, Gemma Cutting and Imogen Townley will remain for breakfast, whilst Capital North Wales breakfast duo Graeme Smith and Sarah Story will join the station for drivetime. Weekends will be hosted by Anton Powers and Baz Todd, including local shows on a Thursday and Friday from 6pm.
Chris Chambers is Capital Liverpool’s news editor and his team will present 13 news bulletins every day.
Ashley Tabor, founder & executive president of Global said: “This is a really big day for Global – finding the right way to introduce Capital to the wonderful city of Liverpool has been something we’ve wanted to do for a long time and we’re so pleased we’ve found the best local line-up and team to make that happen. In 2016, we’ll be bringing Liverpool the biggest hits from the world’s hottest stars and so much more. Watch this space!”
A Format change request has been approved by Ofcom for Juice FM to reduce locally made hours in return for an enhanced news service.
Until now, Juice FM has operated under its old industry standard Format but this change brings it in line with the minimum allowed hours, as used by most other commercial radio stations. It reduced the required local hours from 10 per weekday to 7.
Graham Sarath, who was Juice FM’s Station Director, is now Capital Liverpool’s Commercial Director. He said: “Adam, Gemma and Imogen are loved by listeners on Juice FM and as we launch 107.6 Capital FM Liverpool, they will continue to wake up the city with their brand of humour and fun alongside the best hit music. Local lad Graeme is making a welcome return home to Liverpool together with his co-host Sarah and we know our listeners are going to love them. Anton and Baz will get our listeners in the party mood at the end of the week and into the weekends with their dance music shows.”
