Ofcom throws out complaints over Iain Lee

Ofcom received six complaints about an item on Iain Lee’s show at BBC Three Counties Radio, but decided not to pursue them.

The complaints were assessed by the regulator but did not raise issues warranting investigation.

The news is significant because the item in question, an interview with a Christian Concern campaigner, is thought to be the reason why he’s no longer on the station.

Neither Iain or the BBC have confirmed the reason for his departure from the 3CR breakfast show, but it has been hinted by Iain on Twitter that the station fired him over the way the interview was conducted, and the following outcry from Christian organisations.

Iain broke his “Twitter silence” today to reiterate his point about the interview – in which he continually claimed his contributor was a bigot – and to highlight a tweet which described what one person thinks of his former bosses at BBC Three Counties Radio.

Iain says he not very well at the moment but there’s currently lots happening.

See the tweets below and have a listen to the interview for yourself.
