UKRD appoints new Group Programme Director
Dave Coull has been promoted to Group PD at UKRD Group, replacing Phil Angell who left the company recently.
Dave is currently the group’s present Music Manager, and will take up his new role from January 1st 2016. Phil left UKRD after 17 years just a few weeks ago as a result of “irreconcilable differences”.
Chief Executive Officer, William Rogers, told the company-wide UKRD team that he was “hugely enthusiastic about the appointment” and that Dave would “bring his own style, approach and professionalism to the role.”
“Dave joined UKRD at the age of sixteen for a weeks’ worth of work experience and from January will hold one of the most senior posts in the company. Now, at the age of just 33, he’s shown in dramatic fashion that UKRD is a company at which it’s possible to rise to the very top of the organisation if you put the effort in, have the right cultural approach and deliver terrific professionalism along every step of your journey,” said Rogers.
“He is going to do a great job in his own style and he’ll be setting his own priorities for programming across the group. Dave is someone totally committed to genuinely local radio, as well as being a very good manager, and he’s perfectly placed to help to drive our business forward in the programming area.”
Coull began his career with UKRD as a teenager, doing everything from promotional activity through to an evening show, and, after a promotion about ten years ago, he’s been successfully managing the group’s music policy for a number of years.
“I am completely knocked out to have been given this opportunity and I can’t wait to get started,” said Coull. “UKRD is a remarkable company full of hugely committed programmers and presenters and I am looking forward to working alongside them to ensure that our stations produce even more effective and locally relevant programming content.”
The present Deputy Programme Director, Peter Gordon, will remain in post but will be tasked with taking on more responsibility for specific areas of development activity across the group’s growing number of stations and brands.
“PG is a terrific broadcaster and he’s great to work with. I’m looking forward to working even more closely with him over the years to come. There’s much to do and together we’re determined to move things even further forward,” said Coull.
