Danny Baker wants to start Radio Free Europe

Danny Baker has spent the last 24 hours tweeting about his plans to start his own radio station.

As a working title, Danny has chosen Radio Free Europe for the name of the service, although a station with that name already exists in Eastern Europe.

Danny started the idea after hearing about Martin Kelner’s sacking from BBC radio on Friday – a situation similar to his own just a few years ago.

The tweet also came on the day talkRADIO launched on the DAB radio platform. Jonathan Ross, who’s brother Paul is breakfast presenter, has offered his support saying “I’m in”.

Danny tweeted: “I will run the station like Peter Cook used to run Private Eye. I will only interfere should someone say “banter” or praise Queen.” and later: “Not joking. Radio is my degree. My expertise. Been at it too long to take notes from some f***ing college kid.”
