The first tickets for this year’s Radio Festival are now on sale, to see Katie Hopkins, Scott Mills, Nick Robinson and more in sessions.
The event has moved to September 26th, away from the previously announced date to avoid a clash with a memorial for Sir Terry Wogan.
LBC’s Katie Hopkins has a plan: “At the Radio Festival in September I’m going to need you to think like my listeners at LBC. Be bold. Own your opinion. And pick a side.”
Radio 4’s Nick Robinson said: “The Radio Festival comes almost a year since I stepped away from the goggle box and onto the wireless in my dream job as a presenter of the Today programme. My first day on air had one or two memorable disruptions – a major terrorist attack in Paris, Jim shouting ‘shit’ when the headlines went missing along with my voice. Now I’ve got it back again I’m very much looking forward to sharing stories like this with the audience at the British Library in the Autumn”
The Radio Academy Managing Director Roger Cutsforth added: “It’s shaping up to be another great festival with some thought provoking speakers already confirmed and plenty of exciting speakers still to be announced, so watch this space.”
Radio Festival Director Helen Thomas said: “It’s a total joy to be programming the 2016 Festival and a reminder of what a vibrant, inspirational, inclusive industry we work in. The day is shaping up brilliantly and it’s very exciting to be able to announce our first tranche of speakers – something for everyone, I’m sure you’ll agree! Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the next wave who will be revealed very shortly…”
The Festival will be hosted by BBC Radio 4’s Paddy O’Connell who said: “I’m very excited to be presenting the Radio Festival again for the second year. When will they find me out?”
A limited number of pre-release of tickets are now available exclusively to Radio Academy members at the discounted price of £120.00 plus VAT. Early Bird tickets will go on general release later this month.
Further speakers will be announced in the run-up to the festival.
