Small-scale DAB to be discussed at radio event

Minimuxes and the future of DAB broadcasting in the UK is the topic of conversation at an upcoming Radio Academy South Branch event.

FAB on DAB is taking place in Portsmouth – home of one of the ten small-scale DAB trials – on June 30th, at the University of Portsmouth.

On the panel – the DAB FOUR – is Sam Bonham from Digital Radio UK, Tony Smith and Ash Elford from Angel Radio, plus Chris Stevens, who runs Chris Country on a number of local DAB multiplexes.

The night will be hosted by David Harber from Express FM, Portsmouth’s community radio station. Radio Response is sponsoring the event, making it possible to take place in the University’s Live Lounge from 6.30pm for a 7pm start on Thursday June 30th.

David Harber is also Managing Director of Radio Response. He says: “We are dedicated to supporting the small-scale radio sector, particularly stations on the DAB minimuxes. Having delivered over £150,000 for hyper-local radio in the past 12 months and development in progress for a new audience research system, we are excited to support this event in Portsmouth”.

Attendance confirmation is required via this Facebook group event, or email roy.martin@radiotoday.co.uk to confirm your free place.

The evening will continue in a nearby pub once the panel discussion has finished, around 8.30pm.
