A new face has been appointed to lead the global licensing of Radioplayer technology and create a stand-alone non-profit organisation working all over the world.
Lawrence Galkoff will be General Manager of Radioplayer Worldwide, which already has licensing agreements in place in Germany, Ireland, Austria, Norway, and Belgium. The business says it has plans to roll out the platform in Canada and Peru this year 2017, and that conversations are taking place with dozens more countries that are interested in adopting it.
Up until now, the global licensing of Radioplayer’s technology has been handled by 7digital.
Lawrence is a former BBC studio manager who runs a technical and production consultancy working across radio and TV companies including the BBC and ITV. He has more than 30 years’ experience and has led the technical planning for the BBC’s coverage of 8 general elections. He’s also involved in community radio and is a trustee of the Prison Radio Association.
Michael Hill, Radioplayer Managing Director said: “There’s never been a better time to harness the international collaborative power of the radio sector. And there’s no better person to help us do that, than Lawrence. 2017 will be a transformative year.”
Lawrence Galkoff added: “To me, digital distribution and the internet are the biggest game-changers in the radio industry since the invention of transistors, and it’s absolutely thrilling to be at the forefront of this technological revolution.”
7digital and All In Media, who build the Radioplayer apps, will continue to work as service providers to the newly established Radioplayer Worldwide company.
