Depeche Mode is the headline act for this year’s 6 Music Festival in Glasgow from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 March.
The event is taking place at the Glasgow Barrlowland Ballroom, as announced by Lauren Laverne from the city today. It will also be available to watch on the Red Button as well as listen to live on 6 Music.
Lauren said, “The 6 Music Festival is going further north than ever before! I love Glasgow and have so many great memories of the city, and the 6 Music Festival is sure to create some more. The music is going to be awesome!”
Paul Rodgers, Head of Programmes for 6 Music, says: “It’s exciting to be able to take the 6 Music Festival to Glasgow this March, and we can’t wait to explore some of the City’s famous venues and dig into its fantastic music scene and heritage. The Festival’s line up is full of the kind of interesting artists you’d expect from 6 Music such as Goldfrapp, Sleaford Mods and Depeche Mode, but with an emphasis on some of the Scottish artists that our listeners love, with Edwyn Collins, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Belle & Sebastian, Sacred Paws, King Creosote, Honeyblood and Optimo all performing.
“It’s going to be a brilliant weekend of music for the city and those at home who can tune in via DAB, online and via BBC Red Button.”
Sharon Mair, Editor Radio Music and Events, BBC Radio Scotland, says: “I am delighted that BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 6 Music are working closely to together to bring fantastic music to our audiences during the Festival and Fringe, including a very special Quay Sessions simulcast on both networks featuring one of Scotland’s most influential musicians, Edwyn Collins. We would like to thank all the local partners, venues, promoters and Glasgow City Council for their fantastic support and we look forward to working with them.”
