Fix Radio launched by world’s richest plumber
Fix Radio, the new London DAB station aimed at tradespeople, has been launched by Charlie Mullins, the world’s richest plumber.
Charlie, who founded Pimlico Plumbers, is a celebrity in his own right and recently starred in Channel 4’s show about multi-millionaires called How’d You Get So Rich?
Fix Radio went on air at 7am Wednesday 26th April with breakfast show presenters Trev and Ben. They spoke to Charlie who said: “I love to see new projects in London like Fix Radio. I’m pleased to be here and be a part of it and support it, especially knowing it’s aimed at our hard-working tradespeople who are worth their weight in gold.”
Charlie wished Fix Radio good luck and pressed the button to play the station’s first song – We Built This City by Starship – and unveiled a commemorative wooden plaque in the studio in Battersea.
To promote the station to tradespeople all over London, a fleet of three ‘bacon butty vans’ will be visiting sites from next week handing out 20,000 free butties over 40 days.
Apart from its DAB broadcasting, Fix Radio will be played in the canteens on some of London’s biggest mega-sites.
Paul Baker, programme director who will also present the daily drive show, said: “We’ll be playing a wide variety of music with banter and fun aimed at tradespeople. As they listen to the radio all day, builders hate hearing the same old songs over and over again on other stations so we’ll have a daily no-repeat music guarantee. We’ll also be providing London’s most detailed weather forecast from the Met Office as this is vital for tradespeople who work outside to plan their work.”
Trev and Ben head the presentation team with other presenters including Ian Payne, Matt Rockley, Pete James and Jessie Brooke.
