Alfie & Anna for Breakfast at Radio Newcastle

Alfie Joey and Anna Foster are the new permanent breakfast show presenters at BBC Radio Newcastle.

Anna has been covering her colleague Charlie Charlton since she went on maternity leave last September, but now Charlie will return to 4pm till 5.30pm Monday to Wednesday to co-host with Jon Harle, who will then host the show solo for the rest of the week, starting October.

Also on BBC Newcastle comedian Steffen Peddie will join the station to present the late show on Sunday and Monday from the end of July. He will take over from Gary Philipson who has recently joined BBC Tees to present their drivetime show.

Elsewhere on the station Anna Foster is confirmed as the permanent co-presenter on the BBC Newcastle breakfast show alongside Alfie Joey and Lisa Shaw is now the permanent mid-morning presenter.

And mid-mornings, previously hosted by Anna Foster, will be hosted by Lisa Shaw.

Managing Editor of BBC Newcastle, Doug Morris told RadioToday: “BBC Newcastle is currently the most listened to BBC Local Radio station outside London and I think these schedule changes will make the line-up stronger than ever.

“I am thrilled to welcome Charlie Charlton back into a new slot, her nose for news will make her a fantastic addition to the Today’s North East team alongside Jon Harle who is an experienced presenter. And Steffen Peddie will bring fun, character and fantastic music to the late-night show.”
