Chichester based Spirit FM invited over their BBC neighbours to take part in their workplace quiz called ‘War of the Works’ recently.
Teams from both stations answered questions on general knowledge to see who is the brainiest station in West Sussex.
TV and Radio presenter Tommy Boyd hosted the quiz and also spoke to the team members about their love for local radio and of course life in West Sussex. Tommy lives near Chichester and has previously presented shows at both stations.
The quiz was broadcast on both Spirit and BBC Sussex on Local Radio Day.
Spirit FM was crowned the winners, but the BBC have already challenged them to a rematch in Brighton next year.
Content Director of Spirit FM Stuart McGinley added “We had a thoroughly enjoyable day on Friday meeting listeners and hearing just how important local radio is to them. We’ve just celebrated 21 years on air, and achieved our best listening figures in several years. In an ever-changing digital world with more competition, it’s still great that people still rely on Spirit FM to be the voice of their community, here’s to the next 21 years!”
Assistant Managing Editor of BBC Sussex Mark Carter said: “I’m delighted that BBC Sussex is taking part in this quiz. We’re also pleased to support Local Radio Day. Both BBC Sussex and Spirit FM have their roots firmly in the local community and share a passion for truly local radio. Local Radio Day shows how both stations can work happily side by side, although I’m obviously confident that BBC Sussex will be victorious in the quiz!”
