BBC Cymru Wales has appointed Garmon Rhys as Head of News, looking after radio, online, television and mobile.
Garmon started his journalism career at the BBC in 2000, before working as a television and radio producer in a range of roles across political and current affairs output.
For three years, he led strategy development and planning across BBC Wales before re-joining the news department as Deputy Head in 2012 to oversee political, specialist and Welsh language journalism.
Rhodri Talfan Davies, Director BBC Wales says: “Garmon is a highly respected journalist and creative leader – and has played a central role in the development of our news output over a number of years. With the speed of change in the news market, and the unprecedented political and social agenda, I believe he is ideally placed to shape the future direction of our journalism.”
