Jay-Z, Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles and Pink are among the 21 acts who’ll be on Radio 1 during Live Lounge Month.
The station’s mid-morning presenter Clara Amfo announced the full line-up today, with most performances live in the New Broadcasting House studio taking place Monday to Friday throughout September.
Other acts taking part include Coldplay’s Chris Martin, The Script, Rita Ora, Foo Fighters, Craig David and George Ezra.
Radio 1 says the artists will be all performing a Live Lounge cover track from some point in the last 50 years – as the station marks its 50th anniversary at the end of September.
The first session will feature Foo Fighters live from their own studio in Los Angeles, while on Friday 29th September there’ll be an evening concert in front of a live studio audience, with a special guest, to finish Live Lounge Month.
Clara Amfo said: “This year’s Live Lounge Month has me more excited for our listeners than ever. From L.A. back to our studios in the UK, there is 50 great years of Radio 1 to celebrate with all of the artists and I can’t wait for it to kick off!”
Ben Cooper, Controller, Radio 1, 1Xtra and Asian Network said: “I love Live Lounge Month – the world’s biggest artists, in the world famous Radio 1 studio, playing the best music in the world.”
