Radio Cymru DJ off air after festival comments

BBC Radio Cymru presenter Tommo has been taken off air while an investigation is held into alleged comments he made on stage at a music festival in Ceredigion.

The BBC is reporting that the presenter – real name Andrew Thomas – is understood to have made some remarks while addressing crowds at Gwyl Nol a Mlan music festival in Llangrannog earlier this month. Radio Cymru has received a complaint but says it doesn’t relate to anything that was said on air.

A spokesman for BBC Wales told BBC News : “We have received a complaint and are investigating the matter. Whilst the investigation is held, Tommo will not be hosting his show on BBC Radio Cymru.”

Tommo presents Radio Cymru’s afternoon programme, having joined the BBC in 2013 from commercial radio group Town & Country Broadcasting. He is a former Commercial Radio Presenter of the Year at the Arqiva Awards.
