BBC Radio 1 has announced acts including Liam Payne, Rita Ora and The Vamps as part of the line-up for the station’s Teen Awards this year.
The event takes places at Wembley arena on Sunday 22nd October, and honours unsung teenage heroes from across the UK as well naming listeners’ favourite TV show, film, game, sports star, celebrity and music acts of the last 12 months.
The 2017 awards – now in their 8th year – are being hosted by Radio 1 breakfast presenter Nick Grimshaw and singer Rita Ora. Due Lipa and Camila Cabello are also on the list of acts announced who’ll be performing on the night.
Nominated by Radio 1 listeners, the Teen Heroes will be chosen by a panel of judges consisting of former winners and Radio 1 presenters.
Nick Grimshaw says: “Yaaayyyy so happy Rita is back to co-host, genuinely one of my favourite days of the year. Looking forward to honouring our Teen Heroes and bringing you a massive show from Wembley.”
Radio 1 Controller Ben Cooper says: “This is all about young people being celebrated and given the credit they deserve for being such a force for good in society. Radio 1 presents five amazing artists, some inspirational teen heroes and ten thousand screaming fans – what’s not to like.”
The station will broadcast the ceremony live on Radio 1, and it’ll also be available to watch live on the iPlayer and via the BBC Red Button.
