Original celebrates 10 years with £10k prize

Original 106 has been celebrating ten years on-air with a cash giveaway of ten thousand pounds.

The Aberdeen station hosted a week of activity including previous presenters and journalists remembering their time at the station, daily “ten-themed” giveaways, and a day of ten outside broadcasts.

Original 106 launched on the 28th October 2007 – with a licence to broadcast to Aberdeen City and Shire.

Martin Ingram, now programme controller was its first presenter: “Being there at the birth of a brand new radio station is a very unique experience and was one of the reasons I moved from Northsound ten years ago. I’m very proud that Original 106 has well and truly found its place in the fabric of life in Aberdeen and north-east Scotland. I had the privilege of being the first one on air and my first record was “Revolution” by The Beatles. I like to think that our presence on air in the past ten years is a kind of revolution – flying the flag for wholly local radio”.
