Kaval Vaseer, a presenter on BBC Radio Nottingham, has died after a long battle with cancer.
The station announced the sad news on Friday, and tributes have been paid over the weekend.
Kaval joined BBC Radio Nottingham in 1989 to launch Dhamaka, a specialist programme aimed at younger listeners from the Asian community, and has presented the weekly show ever since.
Born in Liverpool, Kaval emigrated to India at the age of three with his family. He returned to the UK in the early eighties to study for his higher education.
Away from the microphone, Kaval’s day job was as a management trainer for a local authority.
