Christian O’Connell and Dermot O’Leary were the main radio winners at this year’s TRIC Awards, winning the Best Radio Programme and Best Radio Personality awards.
Christian, who’s leaving his Absolute Radio breakfast show later this year, collected the award at the event in London along with co-host Richie Firth. The OC was beaten to the Programme award by Heart London’s Jamie and Emma last year.
Radio 2 Saturday breakfast presenter Dermot O’Leary was named Best Radio Personality – an honour won in 2017 by Emma Bunton.
A new category this year – for Best Podcast – was won by Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs.
talkRADIO Drivetime presenter Eamonn Holmes was also among the winners at the 2018 TRIC Awards, picking up Best TV News Presenter and being part of the team from This Morning which won two awards – Best Daytime TV Programme and the Special Award.
The Television and Radio Industries Club was formed in 1931, originally as the ‘Radio Industries Club’. It says its focus as an organisation is to cultivate ‘a thriving and entertaining environment where like-minded professionals can network, rub shoulders with the stars at the TRIC Awards and relax.’
The TRIC Awards 2018 took place on Tuesday afternoon at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane.
You can see the rest of the winners once the official website has been updated.
On the eve that all our worldly goods are packed and shipped to Australia we win one last award. This shabby show of @RichieFirth and mine has won every single award we were eligible for. We made every show with a genuine joy for what we did. I have nothing but gratitude 🙏 pic.twitter.com/aIcNkFyoe3
