Global’s West Midlands Managing Editor Paul Gerrard has left the company after ten years.
Paul has been running the Birmingham-based stations since 2008, originally in charge of Heart West Midlands, along with Capital Birmingham and, later, Smooth West Midlands.
Before being appointed Managing Editor, Paul was Deputy Programme Director and Head of Music at 100.7 Heart FM. Prior to moving the Midlands, he was at Fire 107.6 in Bournemouth from 2000 to 2007, as a presenter and Programme Controller.
Due to the nature of his next unannounced appointment, RadioToday understands Paul left the company immediately after handing in his resignation last week.
A Global spokesperson told RadioToday: “We can confirm that Paul Gerrard has left Global. We wish him the very best in his endeavours.”
Meanwhile, Bauer Media has just been granted Ofcom permission to launch a new regional radio station playing “the greatest hits” on 105.2FM – the frequency currently used to relay Absolute Radio from London.
