Marvin Humes and Kat Shoob leave Big Top 40

Marvin Humes and Kat Shoob are stepping down from hosting the Big Top 40 chart show at Global.

Kat has been on the show for almost a decade whilst Marvin joined the countdown to replace Rich Clarke in 2014.

The show is currently broadcast across 140 radio stations with an audience each week of 2.2 million, but this will change next month as Bauer and other radio groups stop taking the show. leaving it predominantly on Capital and Heart.

Kat is also stepping down from her nightly show on Heart, but will continue to be part of the Global family, whilst Marvin will continue his weeknight show on Capital, Monday to Thursday from 10pm.

A Global Spokesperson told RadioToday: “We are delighted that Marvin remains part of the Global family and can still be heard on Capital Monday-Thursday. Similarly, whilst we’re losing Kat from our chart, this isn’t goodbye, as she will continue to ‘pop-up’, from time to time, on Heart. It goes without saying that we’d like to thank Marvin and Kat for their enormous contribution to The Official Vodafone Big Top 40, the UK’s biggest chart show.”

RadioToday understands a new presenter will be announced next week.

Seems pointless to broadcast it on Heart as it doesn’t reflect their playlist.

Mr Kemp will be taking over.

  3. Andrew T

Jeff, it represents hearts play list perfectly. Greatest showman songs get played in the top 40 as much as they do every other heart show. ?

  4. Radio Geordie

At last, some choice on the radio dial.

  5. I am really going to miss Marvin and Kat presenting the Big Top 40 but I hope Roman Kemp and Vick Hope present it
