Capital Breakfast co-host Vick Hope has announced she is leaving the show and the station.
Vick, who has presented the Capital Breakfast show along with Roman Kemp and Sonny Jay since 2017, hosted her final show last Friday and announced the news via social media.
At the start of the show on Monday, Roman said: “You may have noticed that Vick Hope isn’t here today. It may come to you as a bit of surprise, but Vick has left Capital Breakfast.”
He explained that Vick had left the show because she’s had some exciting TV opportunities and he’s really excited for her.
Roman continued: “Vick has been part of Capital Breakfast for the past few years, since I and Sonny (Jay) started the show. We’ve had so much fun, she’s been an amazing part of the team and definitely we’re going to hear what she’s up to very, very soon.
“In the meantime, we just wanted to say a massive thank you to you Vick. You’re one of my good friends, we’ll stay in touch and will work together soon and sending so much love from all of us, the Capital Breakfast team.”
The current team took the show national in April last year. News of Vick’s next move has not been announced, nor has any replacement for her on Breakfast.
A Global Spokesperson told OnTheRadio.co.uk: “Vick Hope has stepped down from ‘Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp’ to pursue new endeavours. She’s been part of the Capital Breakfast team for some time and we wish her well for the future.”
Hear the three presenters talk to RadioToday’s Stuart Clarkson recently on the RadioToday Programme:

Odd that she stepped down without saying goodbye on air and announced by her colleagues after the event!
There is more to this sudden departure than meets the eye. We will find out what really happened eventually, I daresay.
She upset Ashley…
I think Vick has upset someone otherwise she would have said bye. Perhaps now she is free to say a sentance without saying “at Capital” or “on Capital”. Maybe she is just fed up playing the same 40 songs and needs to work for a more forward thinking and personality driven radio station without sounding jouvenile.
Disposable radio…..
Another personality free non-entity leaves a computer run radio show. Capital used to have witty original programming in the days of Tarrant and Everett. Little sign of that any more.
djs at capital fm rarely mention the artist and title of the record they have just played. I remember last year they had a news bulletin containing information on the summer time ball.
There is a need for a station that plays new material from artists of all ages and has a top 10 album countdown as well as a top 10 single chart to breath new life into the industry.
I wonder if Vick Hope will be joining Wish FM as breakfast co-host; Wish FM did used to have breakfast co-hosts, and the station is supposed to be getting some changes in 2020.
Vick Hope could fit Wish FM quite well, she’d be popular with the audience in that TSA.
I wonder if she’ll get her own weekend show on Wish FM alongside Tatum McGreal?
Yeah right. I’m sure she’d voluntarily leave a (supposed) flagship national breakfast show in London to work for some piddly local station in wigan for probably 1/3rd the salary.
You’re having a laugh, yeah? ?
Wish FM has had a lot of big names working there through the years:
Mark Keen (now in property, formerly on TalkSport)
Kev Seed (not sure if he’s still in radio)
Ditchy (who did networked late shows, but also did cover; he was a network presenter on GMG); Alex James (now at Hits Radio)
Darren Spence (also was at Heart North Wales, former UTV Network, and Rock FM)
Baz Todd (now doing networked weekend show)
Craig Beck (isn’t he in NLP or something now in the US?)
Wish FM does have a medium-sized TSA with some overlap with Tower, so it’s not quite a tinpot station; it does have networking from Stoke-on-Trent, but seems to sound fresher than Heart or Hits Radio.
Bam Bam, formerly of Kiss 100, was on Signal 1 a few years ago, but he’s now on Sam FM, so not as improbable as you’d think. He was a big name like Vick Hope too, back in 2001-2002.
Then again, Robin Banks went to STAR Radio Northeast so…. perhaps not so weird, this rumour.
I think you’re slightly out of date with the radio industry, firstly Bam Bam was let go at Sam FM in 2017. And those other “big names” you mention are only so called big names in certain areas.
I think your winding us up?
Big names? You are having a laugh. Never heard of any of them.
Did anyone notice?
Met her at a recording of The Hit List in Glasgow
Wishing her the best for the future
She was seen at R1 today so I’d guess we’ll see that announcement soon.
Also seen on a bus so maybe she will become a bus driver.
I met her in London’s LSQ just recently and wow, she left Capital! I think she made the right decision. I hope to listen to her again on the Radio, let’s hope she doesn’t end up at Bauer!
I think Vick is alright, I don’t think she got the credit she desired at capital. Roman clearly struggled to do that show alone so Vick and Sonny coming on board helped the show. Shame they always sidelined them for Roman. And with wiping them from the ad it’s clear she felt like she could not stay somewhere that does not appreciate her. If the Radio 1 rumor is true then good luck to her. It’s Capital loss. The sudden departure is no surprise it’s typical Global being bitter.
Taking over drive on BBC Radio 1?
I’m not surprised she gone, after Roman came out of the jungle, Vick and Sonny were completely removed from the branding of the show, so i just looked as if it was just Roman on air.
I will miss Vick on the segment call out-smart-vick.She was lovely i wish her all the very best for the future.
