More Hits Radio network programming for five Bauer radio stations

CFM, Gem, MFR, Radio Borders and The Wave Swansea will take network programmes from the English or Scottish Hits Radio hubs outside of breakfast going forward.

Until now all five stations have broadcast local programmes during the day and at drivetime, unlike the majority of stations in the Hits Radio network.

The move means some jobs are under review whilst some new roles are also being created to support the network.

In addition to the new network programming, MFR will also be launching a new local Breakfast show, hosted by Jodie McCluskey.

Gary Stein, Content Director for the Hits Radio Network said: “We are committed to ensuring the future of radio in local markets and these changes will enable the Hits Radio Network to compete for listeners more effectively in a fast-changing audio landscape.

“Along with these new programmes, listeners will continue to have access to local news content, local information and traffic and travel that is important to them.”

Pirate FM and Lincs FM, which currently operate as stand-alone stations within the Hits Radio network, are unaffected by the move.
