BBC Radio 4’s Carolyn Quinn leaves the BBC after 36 years

Westminster Hour presenter Carolyn Quinn is leaving Radio 4 after 15 years on the show, and 36 years full-time at the BBC.

Carolyn started her radio life in hospital radio before being accepted for a BBC Local Radio trainee scheme at Radio Solent in the late 1980s.

She joined BBC’s political and parliamentary team at Westminster in 1989 and became a political correspondent in 1994.

Carolyn hosted PM from 2001 and then the Today Programme from 2004 to 2008. She became the regular presenter of The Westminster Hour in 2007.

Tweeting before her last PM cover shift on Friday, Carolyn wrote: “It’s my final regular presenting shift on PM today.

“(Here’s the fab team behind it all.)It’s time for a break from full time working after 36 years at the BBC.

Time to reacquaint myself with family and friends! Thanks for all your v kind messages – I shall cherish them all.”
