Never Mind My Bollocks – Made in Manchester radio indie creates new Vasectomy Podcast

Independent radio production company Made in Manchester is launching a new podcast called Never Mind My Bollocks.

The show aims to demystify the vasectomy experience, providing a platform for men to share their stories and insights.

MIM Deputy Creative Director Kurt Brookes is set to host “Never Mind My Bollocks” alongside his friend James McConnell. It is designed to give a voice to men who have had or are considering having a vasectomy, addressing the complex emotions and experiences associated with the procedure.

Kurt and James will share their personal journeys, interview others who have undergone the operation, and speak with experts to provide a comprehensive view of the vasectomy process.

“Vasectomies sound scary, so it’s no wonder nobody talks about them,” says James McConnell. “We’d like to change that. We want to demystify the preparation, the procedure, and the recovery process, helping people make an informed decision about whether a vasectomy is right for them. We might even have a laugh along the way. Frozen peas at the ready!”

Kurt adds, “Before I had my vasectomy in 2019, the only place I’d heard about vasectomy in the media was an episode of ‘Family Guy,’ which didn’t do the reputation of vasectomies any favours. Anything else I found was either too medically focused or perpetuated myths about your manhood post ‘The Snip,’ so James and I decided it was time to do something about it. We’re not urologists, but we’ve both got real-world experience that I’d have loved to have heard before going under the knife, and hopefully our listeners will feel the same.”

“Never Mind My Bollocks” promises to be an engaging, informative, and sometimes humorous exploration of a topic that many men find difficult to discuss. By sharing real stories and expert insights, Kurt and James hope to break down the stigma and provide valuable information to those considering a vasectomy.

MIM Creative Director Ashley Byrne says, “As we near our 20th birthday, we are once again breaking and challenging another taboo with ‘Never Mind My Bollocks,’ just as we have with our rich array of other thought-provoking social docs and the podcast ‘Bisexual Brunch.’”

The podcast is available on all podcast platforms (including this one), with the first episode available now.
