Radioplayer has partnered with US public broadcaster NPR to deliver enhanced metadata and distribution services across the dashboards of connected cars.
The deal was announced during NAB Show New York where the company is highlighting its Hybrid Radio technology in use in the UK, Europe and many other places around the world.
Through this partnership, NPR’s stations can deliver rich metadata – such as station logos, song information, and program details – directly to connected car dashboards across the US.
“This partnership with NPR represents a major milestone for Radioplayer as we expand our reach in the US market,” said Yann Legarson, CEO of Radioplayer.
“With our focus on enhancing the radio experience in connected cars, we’re excited to bring NPR’s world-class content to more drivers, ensuring that radio remains at the heart of the connected car revolution.”
NPR is equally enthusiastic about the collaboration: “Our partnership with Radioplayer opens up new possibilities for NPR Member stations to deliver a richer, more interactive experience to listeners in cars,” said Badri Munipalla, Vice President of Distribution at NPR.
“With Radioplayer’s technology, we can offer an enhanced in-car radio experience that meets the expectations of today’s drivers.”
Ken Lloyd, US Partnerships Lead at Radioplayer, added: “We are grateful to NPR for trusting us to deliver this important step forward for radio in connected cars. Our Hybrid Radio platform is ready to provide high-quality metadata that enhances the in-car listening experience. The future of radio is Hybrid, and for broadcasters, radio always comes first – just as it does for us at Radioplayer.
This announcement comes as Radioplayer makes its presence known at the NAB Show New York 2024, and commitment to driving innovation for broadcasters and automakers alike.
