Broadcaster Russ Williams departs Nation Radio show during sick leave

Russ Williams won’t be returning to his weekday morning show on the Nation Radio network of stations.

He took time off last month with laryngitis, intending to be back on his show as soon as possible.

The presenter posted a message on X last week thanking people for listening, adding that he was called while off sick to be told the news.

He thanked his on-air colleagues for being stalwarts, including Neil Fox, Greg Burns, Tony Dibbin, Derek McIntyre and Suzy Maguire.

For the last few months, Nation Radio has had a separate mid-morning show for the South, but this show, hosted by Mark Collins, has now been syndicated to the rest of the network.

Russ has worked at Virgin/Absolute Radio, LBC, talkSPORT, Fix, Metro, Southern Sound and Mercury, and is one half of the well-known duo Russ and Jono, with the late Jonathan Coleman. He joined Nation Radio in 2020 to host mid-mornings.

Nation Radio would not comment on individual contracts when contacted by RadioToday.
