Three more areas have been awarded small-scale DAB multiplex licences by Ofcom.
The Carlisle & Penrith licence has been awarded to Cumbria Digital, Corby & Kettering to Kettering and Corby Broadcasting Company and East Devon to ExeDAB.
The remaining areas that were advertised in Round 6 will be announced in the coming weeks.
Ofcom is also consulting on varying the licence for the Newcastle & Gateshead small-scale multiplex. It was awarded to Tyneside Community Digital in June 2021 and launched in July 2022.
TCD wants to improve coverage in Blaydon and parts of Newcastle city centre which would mean an increase of around 78,000 listeners, representing a 16% increase for the multiplex.
Ofcom says it is minded to approve the request and is consulting on it, with a closing-date for responses on Tuesday 13th May.
