Community Radio Awards 2025 marks ten years and two decades

The 2025 Community Radio Awards are now open for entries, marking the tenth edition of the awards and 20 years since the launch of community radio in the UK.

Submissions open on Monday 2 June and close on Sunday 14 July.

This year’s awards include refinements to several categories and introduce four new ones, reflecting the continued development of community radio across the UK.

To support those entering, the awards team will provide a set of Best Practice Guides and a live online masterclass, offering practical advice from previous winners and current judges.

The awards ceremony will take place in Bradford on Saturday 25 October, following the National Community Radio Conference, which is organised by the UK Community Radio Network.

Martin Steers, Chair of the Community Radio Awards, said: “This year is not just about recognising the outstanding work across our sector over the past 12 months — it’s also a time to reflect on two decades of community radio in the UK. We’re thrilled to be heading to Bradford and excited about the new resources and opportunities to help people submit their very best work.”

Aiir is confirmed as headline sponsor for the sixth year.

Victoria Atkin from Aiir said the company is proud to support the sector and recognises the role community radio plays in serving local audiences. “With many of our team members coming from radio backgrounds or still actively involved, we truly understand the passion and commitment it takes to run a station.

“Community radio plays a vital role in connecting and serving local audiences, especially as the wider radio landscape continues to evolve. These awards offer a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the dedication, creativity, and impact of stations across the country.”

The Community Radio Honours scheme also opens alongside the awards to recognise individuals who have made a lasting contribution to the sector.
