
CRFM West has announced that its new studio and office base will be located at Racquet Club 24, a 24-hour indoor padel centre in Workington.
The station, which is an expansion of CRFM in Carlisle, has signed a multi-year lease at the site.
Construction work on the studios is now under way, with more information about launch dates, schedules and presenters due to be released soon.
CRFM West will focus on delivering local radio for the people of West Cumbria, aiming to reflect community life and voices across the region.
Station Director Darrell Thomas said: “This has been a major investment and a real labour of love, but we’re confident CRFM West will become a trusted voice and vital platform for the local community.”
Paul Johnston, Head of Programming for CRFM West, said the team is now looking ahead to bringing live, local radio back to the area.
Bill Dixon, owner of Racquet Club 24, welcomed the move, saying: “I am delighted that Racquet Club 24 is playing host to the return of local radio to West Cumbria. I’m excited to hear what the new station has to offer.”
