talkSPORT secures MotoGP radio rights for this summer

talkSPORT2 will broadcast six live MotoGP races across Europe this summer, starting with the Italian Grand Prix from Mugello on 31st May.

The races will air on the station between May and August as part of a new partnership involving talkSPORT, MotoGP and TNT Sports, which holds the UK live broadcast rights for the championship.

Coverage begins at 12.50pm BST ahead of each 1pm race start, with commentary provided by TNT Sports’ MotoGP team including Suzi Perry, Gav Emmett, Neil Hodgson, Michael Laverty and Sylvain Guintoli.

The schedule includes races from Mugello, Balaton Park, Brno, Assen, Sachsenring and Silverstone, where the British Grand Prix takes place on 9th August.

Liam Fisher, Head of talkSPORT, said: “We’re delighted to bring the high-octane excitement of MotoGP to the talkSPORT audience for a massive summer of motorsport.”

Alex Arroyo, Head of Media Rights at MotoGP, said the UK remains “a key market” for the championship as it continues to grow internationally.

Scott Young, EVP Sports, Content & Production at WBD Sports, said the partnership would allow talkSPORT listeners to hear TNT Sports’ “world class MotoGP commentary”.

The broadcasts will sit alongside talkSPORT’s wider summer sports coverage, which also includes live commentary from the FIFA World Cup and The Open.
