Classic FM listeners go digital radio crazy

A recent competition on Classic FM saw nearly 100,000 listeners enter for a chance to win a DAB digital radio. It’s another indication that digital radio is set to be the hot present over Christmas.

Classic FM, which has 6.1 million listeners, secured the biggest number of responses to any on-air commercial digital radio competition ever over the period of just 14 days.

From December 6th, the station offered listeners the chance to win one of 160 exclusive Classic FM Roberts DAB digital radios. The radio station had a massive response, with almost 100,000 entries received and a digital radio was given away almost every hour for an entire week.

Classic FM Station Manager Darren Henley said: ?The overwhelming success of this promotion proves again that the Classic FM audience is leading the take-up of DAB digital radios in the UK.?

Glyn Jones, Operations Director of Digital One added: ?I think you can well and truly call it the biggest ever on-air digital radio competition – other stations may have given away more radios, but these levels of entry are remarkable.?

Classic FM and Roberts Radio produced the exclusive DAB digital radio that not only offers superb digital quality sound and scrolling text information on programmes, but also has special ?one-touch? tuning to Classic FM. It launched on the market at the beginning of December and is now available for ?100 from John Lewis and other good electrical retailers.
