Xfm puts on live show for charity appeal

London and Manchester stations Xfm are teaming up for a ‘completely live’ show from the Shepherd’s Bush Empire next week.

We’re told the programme, which will raise money for the War Child charity will feature live jingles and live adverts as well as guests who’ll do stand-up comedy and sing.

The show will be presented by Xfm London breakfast host Danny Wallace next Tuesday (20 December) and will be in front of an invite-only audience at the theatre. There’ll also be performances from acts including The Stereophonics, Paul Weller, Tim Minchin and Ross Noble. It will mark the end point of a two-week fundraising drive for the Global Radio station in support of War Child, with the programme being billed as a ‘naked breakfast show’ as the usual studio production will all be stripped back.

Danny Wallace said: “I’m delighted, excited and nervous about our Naked Breakfast. It’s going to feel like a variety show from the 1940s; in a rocking, indie-music, 21st century way, obviously. Everything being completely live means a lot of seat-of-your-pants radio; but that’s exactly why it’ll make compulsive listening. I only hope my guests don’t take the ‘naked’ part too literally.”

Director of Fundraising at War Child Ben Knowles added: “Raising the funds and awareness to help tens of thousands of children affected by war is difficult; however, it is hugely helped by amazingly bold events like this. War Child would like to thank Danny, Xfm, the talented guests who will join in and, most importantly, all the Xfm listeners.”
