UBC wins GMG Radio contract

UBC Media Group has signed a contract with GMG Radio to provide syndicated Sky News Radio content to all 11 digital and analogue radio stations owned by GMG. The deal means Sky content can be broadcast in addition to IRN reports, giving each station access to a choice of national feeds.

This adds an additional 10 million impacts to the 26 million UBC is currently able to offer on its Network News package. Simultaneously, UBC has also re-signed GMG Radio to its traffic and travel service and entertainment news package, extending the services across all GMG stations, including its newly acquired Century stations.

Commenting on the contract wins, Simon Cole, UBC's CEO, said, 'I am delighted that UBC has been awarded this contract by GMG. As anticipated the premium service provided by Sky News Radio is proving hugely popular, and I expect to announce that additional groups will be coming on board in the near future.'

GMG Radio's Group Sales Director Julian Carter added: 'It's a good commercial deal for us and allows us to provide a service to our listeners that has real value. UBC are performing well for us and we are happy to extend our relationship, whilst also maintaining a strong IRN relationship.'

Sky News Radio provides a 24-hour service of bulletins, scripts and audio to 40 radio stations with a combined audience of more than 15 million listeners each week.
