Anna Foster to co-host 5 live Drive show

Anna Foster will replace Aasmah Mir as the new permanant co-host on BBC Radio 5 live’s afternoon drive-time programme, with Peter Allen.

Aasmah Mir decided to leave the station in early November last year when her contract ended, and Louise Minchin will continue to co-host the show for the first half of the week until Anna takes up her new role full time in May.

Anna has been a regular on 5 live since 2005 when she joined as a reporter, before becoming the station’s regional reporter in the North East of England and then co-presenter on Weekend Breakfast with Phil Williams.

Commenting on her new role, Anna said: “Drive is simply a fantastic news programme, and well-known for its outstanding journalism. I’m delighted to be joining the team and working alongside one of the country’s great broadcasters in Peter.”

Anna is currently co-presenting 5 live Drive each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

On Anna joining the show, her co-presenter, Peter Allen said: “Anna is highly professional and already a friend. I can honestly say she is one of the most talented broadcasters with whom I have worked.”
