Nick Grimshaw gets submerged in maggots

BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw has been submerged in a bath of mealworms and maggots live on-air in a bid to raise money for Red Nose Day.

Nick said he would get in the bath just outside the studio if they got to £125,000 in donations. Then when the total hit £145,000 celebrities and staff starting pouring the mealworms in his hair and all over him.

“I feel like I was constantly bitten.. it was absolutely disgusting. So foul,” Nick said.

He appeared on BBC1 Breakfast and the whole event was live on the Red Button.

It was all part of the Red Nose Day Challenge Show aiming to raise as much money as they can for charity. Special guests on the show included Lenny Henry, Kate Moss, Jessie J, David Walliams, Little Mix and Union J.

Other fund raising stunts included having the two teen bands eat cinnamon, putting Scott Mills on Wheels and pushing him towards Vanessa Feltz for a snog and having Radio 1’s Nick, Dev, Scott Mills and Sara Cox stripping to their swimwear.
