Fresh from winning the Chairman’s Award at the annual Arqivas earlier this year, GCap Media's national DAB digital radio station theJazz has been given the Media Award at the 21st annual British Jazz Awards.
The presentation of the award comes just weeks after the first set of RAJAR figures showed that 334,000 listeners are tuning into theJazz every week. The station is also a nominee in the category for Best Digital Service at the forthcoming BT Digital Music Awards.
Managing Director of theJazz Darren Henley was presented with the award at a star-studded ceremony at The Sands in Gainsborough. Speaking about the award, he said: “We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed with the response to the launch of theJazz and we’re delighted to have been honoured by the jazz world in this way.”
