The A List to be scrapped

The alternative network chart show, The A List, is to end within the next fortnight. The decision was made by the radio groups who broadcast the chart, including Global Radio and GMG. The final show will broadcast on December 23rd.

The chart has had a chequered history since launching two years ago. Initially presented by Mel Sykes and Heart 106.2 presenter Nick Snaith, Sykes departed the chart and was replaced by Gail Porter earlier this year.

Porter departed in October when the show failed to attract a sponsor, and production was moved from independent producer UBC to Global when three production units were created for commercial network programming.

Emma B will present a new show on Heart 106.2 in London in place of the chart. GMG is replacing The A List on Real Radio and Century FM with their existing album chart, presented by Gary Davies. Group programme director John Simons said: "Gary's a great talent and knows our Real and Century Radio brands well."
