Ivan goes on tour and Radio 2

Following his sell-out Edinburgh show last year, the UK’s most famous hospital radio DJ Ivan Brackenbury is to take his roadshow across the UK, beginning a 27 date tour at the end of the month. It has also been announced he will make his presentation debut on Radio 2 later this year.

The “Cheerful Earful” was an If.comedy award nominee at last year's Fringe in Edinburgh, and is probably the highest profile personality across all the hospitals of Chesterfield and North Derbyshire.
Brackenbury told Radio Today: "It's a great opportunity to experience all the fun and excitement of being in hospital without having to get ill or seriously injured in the Chesterfield area."
Radio 2 has ordered a pilot show from Ivan Brackenbury to be transmitted later this year, to be made in-house under producer Julia McKenzie.
"It sounds like an exciting opportunity but obviously if the extra commitments at Radio 2 start to effect my main show on hospital radio then I'll need to take another look at it, " Brackenbury told Radio Today.
"It's all very well for Ken Bruce and Steve Wright to spend nearly every day there, but as far as I'm aware they don't have responsible commitments elsewhere."
Ivan Brackenbury has presented on Radio 1 as part of Stewart Lee and Richard Herring’s show, Fist of Fun, and has simulcast his hospital radio show on BBC GLR and XFM, Chris Evans breakfast show on Virgin, Jo Wiley on Channel 4's 4Music, Loose Ends on BBC Radio 4 and his own Christmas show on BBC Radio London.
