Super start for Superstation

Residents of the Orkney Islands off the northern coast of Scotland finally have their own community radio station. The Superstation, which launched this week, won a five year licence from Ofcom two years ago and is already making an impact.

The station has offered a radio programme to local DJ Will Atkinson, who has had a passion for music from a young age. He was also recently delighted to get the news that one of his songs had made it to a Radio 1 playlist giving him national exposure for the first time.
Will’s song “Perpetual Sunrise” can now be heard on the Judge Jules programme, where it’s been tipped for success.
Dave Miller, The Super Station Orkney’s Managing Director said: “This is fantastic news for Will. He’s talented, hard working and deserves success. When we were looking for our local presenters, he really stood out and we’re delighted to have him on board flying the flag for home grown talent on the Islands.”
