Driscoll and Robinson exit Absolute Radio

Absolute Radio’s Chief Executive Officer Donnach O’Driscoll & Chief Financial Officer Adrian Robinson are to leave Absolute Radio.

They’ll both exit on December 31st to make way for Bauer Media to take control of the station, after the Office of Fair Trading cleared the purchase of the station from TIML Golden Square Limited this afternoon.

Donnach and Adrian joined the team at Golden Square upon its acquisition by Times of India on 1st July 2008, along with Clive Dickens, former Chief Operating Officer who left earlier this year.

Under their leadership the station has expanded the original Absolute Radio brand with the launch of extra digital stations such as Absolute 80s.

They’ll now both concentrate on their business, ARI Consultancy expanding the JACK brand in the UK.

Donnach O’Driscoll said: “We have created the most fantastic brand. Absolute Radio now has record audiences, has won numerous awards, has an excellent team and has revenue growth regularly outperforming the market. We’re handing it over to Bauer in perfect health. We’re now hugely excited to work on another brilliant challenger brand, Jack …that’s our immediate future and we can’t wait to get stuck in”

Adrian Robinson added: “It has been both an honour and a privilege to work for more than five years with the truly fantastic team at One Golden Square. So many innovations, so many firsts and so many good times. It is a very special place. We wish all at Absolute Radio the very best for the future as we concentrate now on building and developing the Jack brand in the UK.”
